The University of Sydney Business School holds student awards every year. I was invited to the awarding ceremony at the Holme Building in September 2025. I was really fortunate to be awarded the Leadership for Goods award for my contribution in making an impact outside the school. I raise the story of volunteering activities, especially the ILLA (Indonesian Learning Language Ambassador) program, and assisting the City of Sydney as an ISLA (International Student Leadership and Ambassador).
There are three things that I appreciate from the event. Firstly, I am able to invite guests to come and celebrate the achievement together. The awarded students can bring their parents, partners, or friends. I extend the invitation to Agung Hari, Agung Elang, and Ekky. Being able to bring our support system to the event made me realise that those achievements were feasible because the support system also contributes in some parts.
Secondly, after the event, we were sent a digital certificate and a photo. There was a professional photographer and a photobooth to take photos. So we can have a beautiful picture to complement the memories of the night. The edited photos are perfect to decorate our social media or website.

Celebrating Achievement with Friends |
Regarding posting the photo, the email includes instructions and guidance on how to make the posting of the award impactful. Here are some tips provided by the Career and Employability Office (CEO):
1. Don't use chatGPT. It's obvious when someone posts
a generated story. Instead, make it meaningful, like you're sharing your
excitement and success with friends.
2. @ the right people! Be sure to tag
the Business School, any academics or staff members who helped you on
your winning journey, and your fellow nominees/attendees (if you know them or
met them at the awards).
3. Include a takeaway - think about what you got out
of the event - was it a greater connection to the Business School,
meeting your peers and increasing networks?
4. Include the correct title of your
prize/scholarship/award.
5. Spell-check.
6. Include a photo!
7. Interact with your post - reply to comments.
If you'd like to chat about your post, or how to get the most out of LinkedIn, get in touch with the CEO.
The advice is not only useful for LinkedIn posts for awards, but also if we want to post other articles in general. By including a takeaway point in our celebratory post, not only showing off, but we can also give something for the readers’ lesson learn.
I hope that receiving the award can motivate other international students to take part in their community by actively participating, starting with volunteering.
